GNOP Co-Founder, Janet has been performing for as long as she's been alive; it's in her blood. At age 6, she recited an A.A. Milne poem for her classmates; with her sister she sang and performed at family gatherings throughout her childhood (and still does). In high school, Janet performed in musicals and choral groups and then went on hiatus during the late 60's and early 70's during college and graduate school. She resumed performing in Los Angeles from 1975-1992 - with the music/comedy team of Fink & Grippo, community theater in Santa Monica, improvisational studies with actor Lee Garlington, singing in the L.A. Women's Community Chorus and in an all-girl rock 'n roll band, The Cherry Cokes before moving to Vermont in 1992. Janet was many Lyric Theatre musicals - most memorably as the Mayor of Munchkinland in The Wizard of Oz. Community theater appearances include Jake's Women, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Crossing Delancey. She brought the beloved character Ouiser Boudreaux to life in GNOP's inaugural production of Steel Magnolias, followed by Mavis Flowers in The Hallelujah Girls, Toni in The Family of EWE, Joyce in Alumni Pie, and Abby Binder in Ripcord. A native Jersey girl, Janet received a degree in P.R. and an M.Ed. from Boston University before moving to L.A. in 1975 to become a carpenter. She lives in Burlington and works for the great Burlington, VT company, Mamava. As Board Chair, Janet continues to put both her love of performing and her business skills to use on behalf of the beloved GNOP.
